Circle Dance Training
according to the Harmony-Method®  developed by Nanni Kloke

Picture
The circle dance training of the Academy of  Movement and Awareness is an holistic circle dance way of dancing based on the Harmony-Method developed by Nanni Kloke. Circle dance is a central element  which deepens the experience by the meditation of the movement and the connection with nature. It aims to connect external movement and internal mental images to give a sense of meaning and purpose and this leads to fulfillment and personal expression. Awareness grows through structured bodywork which brings consciousness of the body and its place in space.
The teaching is  predominantly in a circle which gives the opportunity to assess the needs of individuals for particular work within the safety which being part of a group provides. The movements and gestures may be easily done but the task is to be fully present in body and spirit so that awareness develops. This is not easy as the learner is confronted not just with individual strengths but also with particular weaknesses, fears and limitations.

The power of the music, the harmony of the movements, the clear structures of the dance instructions and being part of the dance community can have a healing psychological effect for most people.

We work with different topics or stories which serve to guide the internal process and when possible outdoors in nature.   When we meditate in nature, we bring a receptive presence to the natural world. It comes alive—and so do we. We no longer look at nature as an inert or pretty object, but as a living and breathing world of mystery and sensitivity, a realm of wisdom and learning that is always whispering its teachings to us.

The training for Movement and Awareness strengthens self-confidence, communication skills and imagination. The Harmony-Method enables participants to find their own authentic quality of movement. This is necessary before people can pass on to others the movement meditations and circle dances.
